Environmental Policy
Our Environmental Management Commitment


The Discovery Group is a locally owned and operated experiential touring company based in Noosa, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. The passion for Noosa and World Heritage Listed Fraser Island coupled with a determination to showcase the very best of the region’s natural and cultural assets to visitors locally, domestically and from around the world has helped to deliver a “uniquely Australian experience”.

NOOSA BIOSPHERE  RESERVE  “Living Laboratory”…   

In September 2007, the former Noosa Shire was awarded Biosphere status by UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere International Coordinating Council. The Discovery Group is the only Tour Operator to work in both a Biosphere Reserve & World Heritage Listed areas. Because of this position, The Company is committed to raising  awareness in order to help preserve the pristine environment of the Noosa Biosphere, and  to maintain quality of life for the residence and tourist alike. We take responsibility to lead the way and globally help position the region on an international level as a knowledge bank for sustainable tourism.


We firmly believe that the environment and culture that exists in our organization is a crucial factor in determining the success of this organization. The Discovery Group is committed to achieving excellence in environmental management for the areas of Fraser Island and the Cooloola National Park and it’s community with a strategic objective of providing an Environmental Sustainable Community through the sound management, protection and development of the natural environment. We are committed to protecting our environment through the eco tourism program. “Eco Tourism” is ecologically sustainable tourism with a primary focus on experiencing natural areas that fosters environmental and cultural awareness, understanding, appreciation and conservation.

In accordance with this objective in all activities The Discovery Group is committed to:

  • Avoidance of environmental harm and minimisation of environmental impact from the Companies activities;
  • Promotion of conservation of resources;

  • Needed goods and services will be identified, selected and acquired as economically as possible, according to specified standards of quality and service, while giving responsible suppliers fair consideration.
  • Servicing and maintaining our equipment including vehicles and vessels regularly to maximise operating efficiency
  • To minimize the Companies “carbon footprint” avoiding and reducing energy consumption, reducing water consumption, reducing fuel consumption and investing in cleaner fuel technology.

This Environmental Policy covers The Discovery Group’s operations throughout the region in which we operate and will be communicated to all our staff and made available to the public.


Privacy Policy
The Discovery Group is committed to respecting your privacy and providing you proper protection and management of any Personally Identifiable Information you choose to share with us.
